KUCHING,MY!Muara Tebas Temple and Pasar Bako

Muara Tebas Temple & Pasar Bako

Muara Tebas Temple

The Muara Tebas Temple

Built 200 years ago on an ancient site. Here travelers gave thanks after safely crossing the South China Sea. Muara Tebas has been a fishing and trading village for centuries. The host deity of the temple is Buddha Shakyamuni. Other deities include Sea Goddess Macho. The shrine is renovated in 1903; major renovation were made in 1994-200. Devotees occasionally hire boats to visit ‘lion rock’ on nearby Pulau Lakei ~~~

Special Section For Muara Tebas Parking Attendants

The one thing that i could never comprehend is the premium parking fees that anyone who had to fork out whenever they came to this place. You see, this Chinese Temple is actually located near the end of a Kirian Kampung and we have a whole village which live and die as a parking attendant.

Make no mistake about it, I have nothing against Kirian in general but the fact that they are collecting fees for parking is ridiculous to begin with. From children to adult, everyone is programmed to do the exact same thing, before you even have chance to turn off your engine, these people will already be standing at your side window with one hand begging and the other showing the figures.

When you first arrive, they will try to “assist” you in parking properly.

Once they read out their scripts… which usually goes something like this…

“Bang, bang … 3 ringgit…. Bang… saya tolong jaga kereta ….”

Translation –> “Mister, that’ll be RM3, i’ll help you take good care of your car”

In actual fact the only people you need to worry about the welfare of your vehicle is them. Try not to pay once, there might be a few scratch etch on your car permanently.

Even at the temple itself, they will scour around and try their best to sell you something which you can obtain for free.

They vandalize the temple at every opportunities. Sick freaks.
